The astonishing story of the pencil

The “market” is a strange and wondrous thing. On one level it is infinitely flexible and profoundly complex, and yet on another level it is beguiling simple: it is after all nothing more than you and me trading stuff in a private or professional capacity. This beautifully animated short shows the life story of the humble pencil, an analogy first hit upon by Leonard Read in 1958, and later used to great effect by Milton Friedman. Enjoy.
